The pattern of games on PS3 especially non-exclusive, there are many games that need large hard drive install probably because the publishers don't want to allocate more time to optimize the PS3 version.Įven gamers spend the money to buy a large hard drive isn't very practical because full hard drive backup for copy protected saves take a long time to complete or having to pay for PS+ for the Cloud Backup. Also, amount of data needs to be optimized how they are loaded such as buffering, loading in the background, etc. Why spend the extra money to optimize the game loading if the publisher can get the gamer to spend the money to buy larger hard drive?Įxample, to optimize loading from the disc quicker, the location of the data need to be carefully placed on the disc so that the Blu-ray drive head doesn't need to spend a lot of time seeking the data from all over the disc which slows down the loading. ![]() Most publishers don't want the developers to spend extra time to optimize the game loading from disc if they can dump the entire game to the hard drive.
